St. Clement's Church was founded as the Emanuel Mission in 1893 and located on Selby Avenue in St. Paul. In 1894, Mrs. Theodore A. Eaton of New York City donated funds to the diocese to build a church in Minnesota in memory of her husband, rector of St. Clement's Church, New York City.
